New Song?

Dying to live? The cycle of life and death of a cicada seems inverted. Its brief life above ground results in a long metamorphosis below. Seventeen years of darkness and burrowing result in but a brief period of life and light above ground. In some sense, the cicada is born through a long process of slow and painstaking growth only to die.

Think about it. Through suffering He draws us closer to Him. Like the cicada, we must travel through the darkness of this world to gain the light of salvation that awaits us. However, unlike the cicada, our light will last forever because we will never see death.

God’s Word tells us: “ For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him, since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have. (Philippians1:29).

That is why Christians can begin each day with the blessed assurance that each day we have burrowed closer to the end of our long stay here below knowing that the light that awaits us will make this dark journey worth it in the end.

“I pray today in Jesus name that we are never frustrated by the challenges that God gives us in this life, since the darkness of what we do not sometimes understand, only leads us to the light of eternal grace. We get that. Amen!”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
