Does He want all?

Does He want all? Much of our day is spent trying to look good and impress others, especially those above us. We fear mistakes, as if life were a performance. At home, we shed our pretense, ditching our finery for the most comfortable clothes, seeking to "be ourselves." It feels like each day becomes more about self-absorption and discovering who we are, rather than focusing on others.

Think about it. Looking good at all costs is something that all of us are subject to. God accepts no compromise when it comes to ourselves.

God’s Word: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others (Philippians 2:3-4).”

God wants all of us, so that what we have as “our” self can be destroyed and replaced with “His” self. A pretty good trade when you think about it. Heavenly Father, when we are humbled by our own mistakes, direct our hearts to You and away from ourselves. Forgive us when we become so attached to our pride and self-image that we become more concerned with us and less with You.

We pray: “Heavenly Father, help us release the need to impress and focus less on ourselves. Teach us humility, so we may value others above our own desires. Remind us that true identity is found in You, not in appearances. May we seek Your will, not the approval of others. In Jesus name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matt 6:34) This Passing Day
