Casseroles?

Critical casserole? I love a casserole. But not everyone is as inclined as I am. In fact, there are those who detest them, preferring their food to be apportioned on their plate, never mixed together. When preparing a casserole, check first with those you are serving. It may be that they prefer meat, potatoes and vegetables served separately, individually cooked to taste.

Think about it. As there is a time and place for certain foods served up in certain ways, so too there is also a time and place for advice, served up in two very distinctive ways.

God’s Word tells us: “But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “‘God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.’” (James 4:6).

Advice can be served up shaken and mixed together as criticism or separately, in individual portions with compassion. When we serve up a “casserole” of our critical thoughts to someone in need of love and understanding, we do more to create a bitter feelings than we do healing. Be careful to give advice to a hurting friend when what they really want is love.

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
