Blending in? We live in a culture in love with the post-modernist evaluation that there simply are no absolutes. Society seems engrossed with the idea of neutrality and universal tolerance. As a result it has become a temptation for some Christians to blend in whenever possible and simply avoid conflict.
Think about it. A person might be a believer and keep it strictly a secret and thus avoid unpleasantness and suffering, but once he submits to public testimony he has burned his bridges behind him.
God’s Word tells us: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first (John 15:18-25).
Christ was persecuted when he healed the blind, the lame, and the mute. Why should we be immune from the same treatment at the hands of a world still steeped in sin and hateful of our Savior? Blending in? Not an option to believers who follow the Son of Man and Son of God; his image is too glorious, too important to hide or put away.
“Heavenly Father, forgive us when we are concerned about what others think and we strive to keep our witness private, something only You know about. Move us to be public witnesses not concerned with blending in. In Jesus name, Amen!”
