Birth pains? When I look around at the world today it reminds me very much of the hours my wife Holly and I spent together in birthing rooms years ago. It seems like we so wanted to curse those moments of pain and anxiety; they were so extreme, so difficult to get through. Yet, we didn’t because we knew that in the end God would bless us with a child.
Think about it. Are these dark times of uncertainty any different? Should we be realistic, seeking to understand the signs of world decay, but also hopeful, understanding that the signs have meaning and will result in new life, if only we are willing to believe?
God’s Word tells us: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains” (Mark 13:8).
The signs of the times indicate a fire burning that will soon destroy this sin-weary world. We can choose to see the signs, as difficult and frightening as they might be, but also hope in what is to come, or we can ignore the signs as alarming as they are and hope for the best.
“Lord, thank You for the wonderful truth we have in Scripture. Thank You that Jesus is coming back very soon for His Church. Help me to be ready for Christ's return in the clouds to rescue us, and thank You that Your plans and purposes are designed to bring many sons to glory. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34). www.thispassingday.com
