Best is yet to come? God often moves our hearts to put those words into storage so that we might open them regularly and use them to uphold us and remind us of His mercies. He reminds us that He is working even with our diseases to make us into the men and women he wants us to be. “We are his works in progress.” Could there be any greater treasure than this? If all things we have stored up in our lives are taken away and yet this one gift remains, we could be no richer even if all the worlds pleasures were poured upon us. Praise His holy, name.
Think about it. God gives us space into which to put things we value. Some are right and good to be there, others, unfortunately, are probably not what he has in mind for us.
God’s Word tells us: “After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward” (Genesis 12:4).
Perhaps it’s always a good idea to make our goals founded on the work that we can yet accomplish in life as opposed to the work we wish to avoid. Even in retirement our goal can be to work. Who knows what great calling God may yet have in store for you?
