Yielding an winner? When winning becomes more important than playing fair, nobody wins. Going into the last lap at the Daytona 500, Richard Petty was running third. All at once the car in second place tried to pass the No. 1 man on the final stretch. There was a crash and both cars stopped.The two drivers jumped out and quickly g ot into a slugging match. In the meantime, Petty cruised by for the win.
Think about it. Similarly, the Christian life is not a matter of what you do but who you are; our daily conduct and the attitude behind it. Winning often follows being a possible loser.
God’s Word tells us: “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love” (Ephesians 4:2).
Performing the right deeds with the wrong attitude is hypocrisy. When we work in spite of our neighbor and grudgingly so, the results are often failure and nobody wins. There’s only one way to make a wrong right; start with love and see where it leads you. Love never fails and it always yields a winner when we play fair.
