True joy?

True joy? The joy is in the good we capture not the good that escapes us. The joy is in knowing that giving of oneself, without expecting anything in return, is the true source of joy.

Think about it. It’s not the work that we do every day for the Lord that will bring us joy. No amount of self-improvement, discipline, or religious effort can make us right with God. Only the knowledge that Christ perfectly fulfilled all things FOR us can bring us joy.

God’s Word tells us: “Whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord” (Philippians 2:1-10).

We need to look daily to Christ for our joy because Christ expects nothing in return for the sacrifices He made. All He asks of us is to believe in Him. United with Him, our spirits are uplifted and the cares and problems of this life are pushed aside. Just knowing Christ can put a smile on our face that only true joy can bring.

“I pray today in Jesus name that as we search for joy in life we will pause to understand better that true joy is always and only in Christ and service to others. All else is merely self-satisfaction and not joy. Amen!”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
