Today and tomorrow?

Today and tomorrow? Years ago, I noticed wood rot at the base of one of our Great Room sliding doors. After decades of harsh winters, I had painted the doors multiple times. When the rot appeared, I scraped and layered on paint, feeling accomplished. However, my wife Holly later pointed out the rot had spread. I then had to repair it by chiseling out the rot and using a wood stabilizing agent. After sanding and painting, the door was restored.

Think about it. Our culture often calls good evil and evil good, stirring righteous anger. Is fighting the solution, or does God have something special for us?

God’s Word: “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty (Philippians 4:8).”

The Bible teaches that righteousness comes “not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit.” In these evil times, true change requires God’s Holy Spirit to address the rot of sin around us. Without His power, efforts to change will falter. Pray for God to use you as an agent of change in our culture today and tomorrow, remembering that relying on anything else may only lead to more work later.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Help us to embrace our new identity in Christ, allowing Your Spirit to transform our hearts and guide our actions. Make us instruments of Your reconciliation in a broken world. In Jesus' name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matt 6:34)
