The tie that binds?

The tie that binds? People often react to God’s plan of salvation by deciding it sounds too simple to be true. They feel that there’s something more they need to do, something they have to add to God’s “recipe” for salvation, performing good works to gain God’s favor and earn eternal life.

Think about it. God’s love for us despite our inability to do good and please Him, is puzzling. There’s nothing we can do to please God; simply, we believe His message of “free love” and accept it.

God’s Word tells us: “By grace you have been saved through faith; it is the gift of God, not of works” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

No works that we do can justify us before God. Once we discover this “simple” truth, there is a “fusion” of faith that binds us to Him. Simply, we love Him because He loves us. We serve our neighbor because that’s what He has asked us to do. He loves. We love. This is the tie that binds us to our Lord. Formulas don’t get much simpler than this.

“I pray today in Jesus name that when we seek to help God save us with our works and ability to do good, we remember that God doesn’t need our help to save us. He has already done that in Christ. Amen!”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
