The greater gift?

The greatest gift? What is the greatest gift ever given to mankind? Eternal life in Christ would have to top the list. Yet, what really makes this gift extra special is that it isn’t something God shopped for.

Think about it. He didn’t make it, wrap it and gift it like He has with so many of His gifts; the gifts of time, health, and other earthly blessings.

God’s Word tells us: “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (John 17:3).

These he made and gifted to you and I. Eternal life, however, was different. This gift is a gift “of God” and not from God. Like Eternal life is a piece of God, a part of His eternal being and nature. That’s a gift that is always a perfect fit, never goes out of style, is perfectly useful and can never be topped. And, better yet, there will never be the need to exchange it or return it. Like God, it’s perfect.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, thank You I am in Christ, and that He is my Lord. Thank You that He has paid the price for my sin and that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him. May I in like manner, live my life in willing obedience and joyful submission to Him. In Jesus name, Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
