Cutting corners? I often find I’m my own worst enemy, usually from cutting corners to save time, which backfires. Years ago, I installed carpeting before molding, cutting the molding to fit the opening without accounting for the carpet’s height. The molding was forced over the carpet, which seemed fine then. However, when I later removed the carpet, it unraveled because the molding was too tight. If I hadn’t cut corners, the carpet would have been fine.
Think about it. Many today believe that America is a nation in great trouble. Could it be that cutting corners has put us there?
God’s Word: "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people (Proverbs 14:34).”
Despite having the world’s strongest military and a resilient economy, many Americans are increasingly pessimistic about the nation’s future. A 2000 Gallup Poll found that over 78% of Americans doubted the country’s ability to thrive in the 21st century. More than 65% identified internal issues as the greatest threat, suggesting a self-inflicted decline rather than external forces. Could it be that we’re "cutting corners" by neglecting essential spiritual values and moral foundations?
We pray. “Heavenly Father, we seek Your guidance in these uncertain times. Help us recognize and address the internal issues affecting our nation. Strengthen our commitment to Your values. Grant us wisdom and integrity to build a future rooted in righteousness and faith. In Jesus name. Amen.”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
