The crush? Pressure. The crush. It mounts and mounts until you can almost feel the top of your head coming off. Tension breaks into your day. The next thing you know stress walks right in the door. Perhaps it was criticism. It may have been failure. Either can make the pressure mount.
Think about it. Whatever the case, tension and stress happen quickly, and often linger a long time. We all know the feeling. The body begins to compensate by speeding up heart rate. The faster rate pumps more blood increasing internal pressures. The body compensates by increasing and isolating blood flow to the brain. More pressure.
God’s Word tells us: ““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).”
Jesus says, “Come to me.” When life is poised to crush you, you have two choices. You can try to bear up under the pressure, and take your chances, or you can step away from the danger, and into a force that is greater than any pressure, Jesus Christ. The weaker and more feeble your are when you come, the more comfort that is waiting. Makes choosing kind of simple after all.
“Heavenly Father, thank You that I can come close to You, knowing that the barrier of sin has been removed. Thank You that You give me true rest for my soul and perfect peace in my heart - and that in the midst of any storm Your peace that passes human understanding remains. In Jesus name. Amen!
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
