Sweating the details? Years ago I restored an old car. A body shop removed the dents and did a nice paint job. I drove away from the shop with a new sense of pride; that is until I had a mechanic put the car up on a hoist weeks later only to discover that rust had done some pretty ugly things out of sight.
Think about it. Overlooking those hidden details could easily have jeopardized all the work I had done on the upper body. It’s the same with character in the life of a Christian.
God’s Word tells us: “If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest” (Luke 12:26)?
When it comes to Christian character, our integrity often meets its match in the smallest of things. When we fail to observe these, we can easily bring into question whether we are capable of handling life’s larger issues. It’s always best to look beneath the veneer of who we are and what we do to get a better perspective of the little things that make us who we are.
“Heavenly Father, Guide me in the truth, that I may come to know and love You more and more. Help me to develop truth in the inward parts and realize the importance of integrity and honesty in all I say and do. Lord, I pray that You would equip me to furnish myself and others with all we need to grow into godly men and women. In Jesus' name I pray,
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
