Song in the night? Crying out. There just are sometimes when you and I are compelled to cry out. Things pile up, stress builds, grief grows or frustration overcomes, and the weight of these burdens pushes us to become vocal. “Oh my God, why?” Then we fall silent, almost embarrassed to have asked the question, we fall to our knees in supplication.
Think about it. Overcome by submission before the Lord, we become silent. Yet, the echo of our cry still rings within our heart. How does God react to our cries? Is this when God is best glorified in our weakness as He reveals His strength? It this His song in the night?
God’s Word tells us: (Jesus speaking to a widow who lost her son.) “When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, ‘Don’t cry.’” (Luke 7:13).
Are you facing a great trial? Don’t be afraid to cry out when you are moved to do so. Actually, God expects our cries. He is moved by them and wants us to know that comfort is on the way. When all seems lost and there seems no hope, no comfort or satisfaction to be found, be assured that He WILL give you a “song in the night.”
