Sobering dose? On a successful diet a few years back, I felt good about my appearance until a rib injury humbled me. Now, wearing a medical corset, compliments of my wife, reality set in. I still had a journey ahead. Flab was poking out beneath it. It’s was a sobering reminder: progress comes with setbacks, but I was committed to the path ahead.
Think about it. Whenever someone must always rationalize and examine whether the things of God are beneficial to them, you know that they are not hungry enough for God lacking the faith to do the right thing.
God’s Word tells us: “ … God looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God (Psalms 53:2).”
God seeks those hungry to know Him. When we think we know it all, danger lurks. Humility is key; we learn from others in the Body of Christ. We may dismiss opportunities amidst busyness, but reality checks come. Let's stay realistic about who we are and God's plans for us.
We pray. “Heavenly Father, in our pursuit of You, grant us humility to recognize our limitations. Open our hearts to learn from others in the Body of Christ. Help us to remain grounded in reality and receptive to Your plans for us, amidst the busyness of life. In Jesus name. Amen!”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
