Slight or slam? Why are some able to find peace in the worst of situations, while others become frantic when even the little things in life confront them? Someone looked at someone else the wrong way or an imaginary line was crossed. Then, before you know it, a frown can easily become a remark. Whereas for others, nothing seems to rattle them at all. They just plow along unwilling to turn a slight into a slam.
Think about it. Life’s like that sometimes. We’re cruising along peacefully and then, BAM; conflicts rear their ugly heads and we have to choose between a slight and a slam.
God’s Word tells us: “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken” (Psalms 55:22).
When we cast our cares on God, He will provide us peace. We need to take action though, if we want to benefit. We need to embrace that peace. Storms come and go. But cushioned by God’s grace, as others sink, you’ll be plowing along in peace. More slights than slams.
“Heavenly Father, when others bring conflict into our lives, help us to be patient and take care not to react, except in love. Forgive us when we allow slights in our life to become slams. In Jesus name. Amen!”
