Time to sizzle?Eugene Ormandy led the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra in a piece by Johanne Strauss. His arms beat the air and there were times he would flail violently. When the orchestra finished Ormandy’s right arm lay limp at his side. His face was twisted in pain, for he had actually dislocated his shoulder while directing. Asked later if this was unusual for him he responded, “Only when the orchestra was on fire, the least I could do was sizzle.”
Think about it. Ask yourself, “When was the last time that you dislocated good form because the situation called for sizzle and not calm?”
God’s Word tells us: “in his zeal for me, his God, (Moses) he purified the people of Israel, making them right with me” (Numbers 25:13).
Is there ever a good time to become zealous; to sizzle? God reserves those times for rare occasions. Our job is to keep the fire of faith burning, to leap into action and stir things up when God asks us to. Keep it under control but always be ready to use the fire when He gives it.
“Heavenly Father, it is our lifelong desire to love You without reserve, to never be lacking in zeal, and to keep our spiritual fervor as we serve You. We fully devote ourselves to You and want to do what is good and right in Your sight so that we may be at peace and bring You honor. In Jesus name Amen!”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
