Silent treatment?

Silent treatment? The worst punishment I dreaded as a child wasn't physical; it was the silent treatment. Parents wisely use this tactic, and I admit I've done the same. The total absence of communication instills a deep dread far worse than any reprimand or spanking. I'd rather face a wooden spoon or a shouted reprimand than suffer the severing of connection. Can any misbehavior merit such a fate?

Think about it. Parents wisely use the silent treatment as a powerful motivator to change behavior, reflecting how God addresses serious actions, reminding us that silence can convey deep meaning.

God’s Word: "With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you (Psalm 119:10-11).”

We pray. “Heavenly Father, help us cherish and seek Your Word with all our hearts. Protect us from spiritual famine and the emptiness of silence. Guide us to hear Your voice daily, reminding us of Your presence. May we always value our relationship with You. In Jesus name. Amen.”

“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord God, when I will send a famine on the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. They shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east; they shall run to and fro, to seek the word of the Lord, but they shall not find it.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
