Seek the Giver/

Seek the giver? Why has a sense of gratitude seemingly begun to disappear from society? The reason is the more we show gratitude to one another, the less focus is on us. When we give thanks away we transfer importance to someone else. Those things unequally come from the giver. That’s when selfishness rears its ugly head. So much for gratitude.

Think about it. Selfishness stifles gratitude and selfishness is nothing new; its been around a very long time, ever since Adam blamed Eve for his sin.

God’s Word tells us: “You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, … your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” (2 Cor. 9:10-15)).

Funny how when our day goes badly we often turn to the Lord in pleading. Yet, when our day goes well, we pat ourselves on the back. Jesus had good days and bad ones, just like you and I. One thing He always did was to never forget to give God the glory for the good days. His first thought was about the Giver and not Himself. Having a good day today? Look upward; that’s where good days come from. Having a bad day? Look upward again where peace comes from.

“Heavenly Father. Lord Jesus, teach me to be generous. Teach me to serve as you deserve, To give and not to count the cost, To fight and not to heed the wounds, To labor and not to seek to rest, To give of my self and not ask for a reward, Except the reward of knowing that I am doing your will. In Jesus name, Amen!”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
