See me?

(10.23.20—It’s A Job!--Genesis16:1-15)

My friend, may I ask you a question? Do you find yourself in a situation today where the labor you offer at home or at work is unrewarding? Perhaps you feel that no one appreciates what you do?

My friend, life’s a story, welcome to This Passing Day.

I’m M. Clifford Brunner?

Last year, according to Department of Commerce figures, over 100 workers were murdered by their fellow workers in acts of senseless violence. Why this propensity toward discontent, bitterness, even hatred in the work place? Psychologists have begun to probe the violence in the workplace syndrome and are coming to a remarkable conclusion. Most acts of violence are committed by normally even-tempered individuals who simply have a difficult time communicating their feelings. How often have you heard the expression, “You’ve got to watch the quiet ones.”

Here’s a story: Newspaper columnist and minister George Crane tells of a wife who came into his office full of hatred toward her husband. “I do not only want to get rid of him, I want to get even. Before I divorce him, I want to hurt him as much as he has me.” Dr. Crane suggested an ingenious plan “Go home and act as if you really love your husband. Go out of your way to be as kind, considerate, and generous as possible. Make him believe you love him. After you’ve convinced him of your undying love and that you cannot live without him, then drop the bomb. Tell him that you’re getting a divorce.” And she did it with enthusiasm. For two months she showed love, kindness, listening, giving, reinforcing, sharing. When she didn’t return, Crane called. “Are you ready now to go through with the divorce?” “Divorce?” she exclaimed. “Never! I discovered I really do love him.” Her actions had changed her feelings. Motion resulted in emotion. The ability to love is established not so much by fervent promise as often repeated deeds. (J. Allan Petersen.)

Do you find yourself in a situation today where the labor you offer at home or at work is unrewarding? Perhaps you feel that no one appreciates what you do. Perhaps, even worse, you feel that you are taken advantage of, even abused. Remember, you are not alone. There is someone who you can express yourself to; His name is God “the one who sees” you and knows you. The next time that feel alone, forgotten, and lost in your work, remember that God takes pleasure in your patience and will deliver you from your fears and sorrow. The more you call on Him, the deeper the love will grow. The ability to love Him and others depends upon your willingness to reach out repeatedly and call His name.

We pray. Heavenly Father. We often find ourselves in situations where our lives and work are unrewarding? We feel no one appreciates what we do. Even worse, we feel we are taken advantage of, even abused. Forgive us Lord, but we often feel alone, but we know we are not alone. You are there and You are the God who sees us. The next time we feel alone, forgotten, and lost in our work, help us to remember that You take pleasure in our patience and will deliver us from our fears and sorrow. The more we call on You, the deeper that love will grow. Teach us that the ability to love You and others depends upon our willingness to reach out repeatedly and call Your name. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!

Therefore my friend, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry for itself; each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matt 6:34) This Passing Day. May this passing day honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and be a blessing to you and everyone you meet. Find a stranger and say hello. Don't let another day pass without your day blessing someone else.
