Sanding scars?

Sanding the scars? I recently tried to repurpose a piece of wood as a baseboard. It had a nice grain but was full of nails. Removing them left holes, which I hoped sanding would fix. However, sanding only made the holes larger, creating divots. Ultimately, I had to discard the entire board.

Think about it. Like that board filled with small holes at first, so it is with our emotions. It’s funny how a small emotion can grow into a big hurt when our emotions govern our words.

God’s Word tells us: “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger (Proverbs 13:20).”

Proverbs 15:1 says, “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.” Just as Lynn’s passage stirred up bugs, harsh words stir up anger. To avoid wrath, choose gentle, measured words, no matter your emotions. Harsh words are like nail holes in wood; too much pressure leaves permanent scars. Remember, a gentle response can prevent lasting damage and promote peace in challenging situations. No sanding the scars. Makes sen sense.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, guide us to speak with gentleness and wisdom when anger. Help us to choose words that heal not harm. May our responses reflect Your love, preventing scars and fostering peace in our relationships. Fill our hearts with compassion and understanding. In Jesus name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)www.thispassingday.com
