Rejoice in this? Our hearts are constantly searching for that one thing that can’t fail. As much as we hope that it’s happiness and contentment at the end of the search, it’s inevitable that eventually we will experience pain and find unwelcome suffering at some point in time.
Think about it. Suffering is undoubtedly the one sure thing that every Christian can count on. Living under the shadow of the cross, that’s inevitable.
God’s Word tells us: “When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered, I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you. Yet I am always with you; you hold.” (Psalms 73:21-26).
Failing, and succumbing to the weight of our crosses, is not in God’s plan. Rather, each time we fall under the weight of a cross, we can count on the fact that God has placed His Son beside us to pull us back up again. Each one of us is slotted to win in the end. Any man who puts his trust in God will never be put to shame. Suffering draws us close to Him. Rejoice in that.
“Heavenly Father, we find ourselves so often wrap up in trying to avoid what plainly is Your plan–suffering to draw us unto You. Forgive us when we seek only joy and peace, when suffering offers so much more. In Jesus name. Amen!”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
