Refreshing

Refreshing drink? Fresh water is often taken for granted. After a big meal of spaghetti, garlic bread, and tangy salad, you might appreciate it more. My wife made such a meal recently, served with red wine. Everything was delicious and the wine was particularly good. But as things settled I began to crave a glass of Beech Springs water. Its cool, fresh taste was truly satisfying, almost like the first time.

Think about it. We often take fresh water for granted. We should stop and reflect on these simple, yet vital things, lest we forget their refreshing importance.

God’s Word: “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others (Philippians 2:4).”

After years of marriage, familiarity can breed contempt. Refreshing your relationship, like with a simple kiss, can revive those early feelings. In many ways it’s like taking a gulp out of a bottle of fresh spring water. The taste is surprising. Surprise your spouse with an unexpected gift, card, or date. In a world where refreshment is rare, be a spring of refreshment for your spouse. There's nothing more refreshing than a kiss that’s new every day.

We pray: “Heavenly Father, help us to cherish and refresh our marriages. May we surprise our spouses with love and kindness, reigniting the joy of our early days together. Grant us the wisdom to be a constant source of refreshment and renewal in each other's lives. In Jesus name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
