Real joy?

Real joy? Holly and I went to a play and dinner but felt let down. The drive had bad traffic, parking was far, and the play was hard to hear. The crowd was pushy, and dinner after was only okay, with a spill on Holly. When we got home, we fell into our easy chairs and exhaled a sigh of relief. We were glad to be home. For the next hour we watched our dogs play and chatted idly. As the evening slowly ticked away, Holly and I found that the real enjoyment had finally begun.

Think about it. Enjoyment; how often do we really find what we’re looking for and feel we’ve gotten what we’ve pay for? It’s a question we need to ask ourselves––every day.

God’s Word: "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10).”

Put Jesus Christ at the center of your life for true enjoyment. Thank God for giving us abundant joy. William Law writes, “Receive every day as a resurrection from death, as a new enjoyment of life.” Each day offers the chance to rise above worries and find joy in Christ-blessed simplicity, recognizing the satisfaction in the people and things around us.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, help us place Jesus at the center of our lives. May we recognize the abundant joy and satisfaction You provide daily. Open our eyes to the simple blessings around us, and guide us to rise above our worries, embracing the fullness of life You offer through Christ. In Jesus name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
