Provision?

Provision? Here’s a story. “Gratitude led an old man to visit a broken pier on Florida's coast every Friday night until his death in 1973, bringing a bucket of shrimp to feed the seagulls. In October 1942, Captain Eddie Rickenbacker was lost in the South Pacific during a mission. Stranded for nearly a month, his crew faced starvation. After praying for deliverance, a seagull landed on Eddie's head. He caught it, and its flesh provided food, while its intestines were used for bait. This miracle sustained the survivors, renewing their hopes. Captain Eddie fed the seagulls in gratitude for the one that saved his life.”

Think about it. Is it wrong to pray for blessings that seem almost unbelievable?

God’s Word tells us: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Philippians 4:6).”

God provides what we need without our prompting. Praying for more may lead to pride, and less to sin. Trust Him to provide, whether it's a single "gull" or a whole flock. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “We can live in plenty or poverty.” Give thanks!

We pray: “Heavenly Father, help me trust in Your provision, knowing You will supply what I truly need. Teach me contentment in both abundance and scarcity. Let my heart be filled with gratitude and faith in Your grace. Cover me with blessings I haven't asked for. In Jesus name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
