Pounding on God? Years ago when my son Daniel was a little boy I remember he was usually a calm kid, but when he snapped, watch out. I recall a moment when he clashed with his sister Rachel. He unleashed his fury, swinging wildly until I intervened. As he pounded my leg, expecting a reaction, I chuckled. Soon, his anger faded, and he stormed off.
Think about it. In some ways that’s like the way God views our attempts to take Him on when we think were right.
God’s Word tells us: “But you laugh at them, Lord; you scoff at all those nations. (Psalms 59:8).”
God views our attempts to ridicule Him with derision. Yet, God refrains from swift punishment due to His compassion. Our futile efforts to defame Him are laughable to Him. He's infinitely greater than our feeble attempts to challenge Him. Reserve "awesome" for God's works to understand His greatness, deterring futile attempts to challenge Him. He's far greater.
We pray. “Heavenly Father, as we pray, we acknowledge Your greatness. Despite our attempts to challenge You, You show compassion. Help us understand Your greatness, reserving words like "awesome" for Your works. In Jesus name. Amen!”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
