Playing it safe? It’s been said that people who take calculated risks are no more at risk than those who don’t. Why? Because mistakes end up canceling each other out. We ought to be far more motivated to assume some risk in life to accomplish better and greater things than we ought to be content with things just as they are with no possibility of change.
Think about it. When you come right down to it, is there ever any excuse for doing “nothing” when “something” is called for?
God’s Word tells us: “‘He replied, 'I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away.’”(Luke 19:26).
It’s been said, “Don’t play for safety–it’s the most dangerous thing in the world.” If life is to be lived fully, saying no to fear and taking risks makes sense. That’s how things get done. God’s work, doing good for others, takes our hands and feet, our commitment. Don’t worry about making mistakes getting there. You’re liable to make as many doing nothing as doing something.
We pray: "Heavenly Father, thank You for the gifts, talents, abilities, and works which You have prepared for me to do. Let me take the risk to do them. May they increase, enlarge, and overflow in abundance, as I seek to live my life in spirit and truth. In Jesus name. Amen.”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34
