Picking the fruit? What motivates you to get things done? Is it the knowledge that you are capable of doing the work or do you believe that the work itself will somehow magically give you the ability to accomplish what you set out to do. Believing that you can do the work is a much better motivator than believing that the work itself will give you the ability to be successful.
Think about it. Likewise, it is faith that motivates our good work and not the other way around. If you have faith, you will be moved to do good works.
God’s Word tells us: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10).
Doing good deeds doesn’t motivate faith. Works grow from our belief Jesus has done them perfectly. His perfection motivates us to and follow His example. Our confidence is in his perfection. The fruits of our labors await; we just need to be willing to pick them.
