Patriot?

Patriot? When it comes to loving our country, is patriotism enough? Or, is something else needed as well? Patriotism alone is hollow unless it is firmly rooted in Jesus. Certainly God wants us to love our country. But He also wants us to remember that patriotism is not enough.

Think about it. Patriotism alone can’t remove the odor of sin from our lives. It’s noble, but it isn’t an analgesic for sin. We need to remember that while we have a country here, there is an even better country waiting for us in heaven.

God’s Word tells us: And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:3 ).

A Christian patriot is one who IS willing to lay down his life for his country because Christ has laid down His for us. To die for any other reason will never bleach away the natural, foul odor of death. Mixed with our love for Christ, any sacrifice we make is always sweet smelling.

“I pray today in Jesus name that we are always willing to lay down our lives for our country in time of need, not because of some mystical tie to it, but because of a deep spiritual tie to the sacrifice of Jesus.” Amen!

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
