Out of touch?

Out of touch? When Jesus preached to the vast and teeming crowds how odd His words must have sounded to the Jews seeking a political leader and to the Greeks in search of a new philosophy. Blessed are the meek? If you humble yourself you will be exalted? In a world controlled by the ruthless Romans, the humble were vulnerable and the meek crushed.

Think about it. Jesus as a prophet was out of touch. His teaching made the average Joe uncomfortable.

God’s Word tells us: “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth“ (Matthew 5:5).

The world hasn’t changed much since the Romans ruled. Humility and meekness still smack of being out of touch.Yet, that is where God wants us to be, out of touch with the values of this world and in touch with the values of knowing, understanding, and following Jesus Christ.

“Heavenly Father, I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. In Jesus name. Amen!”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
