A step closer to tomorrow? Years ago, despite bad knees, I delayed replacement. So I began to rely more on the tractor, even for mail retrieval. After some reflection, I decided perhaps I could walk for my mail despite my knees, rationalizing the surgeries needed. It just didn’t seem like it was time to change my behavior yet. Not while I still had two feet to walk with.
Think about it. The older we get, how will we know when it’s time to stop?
God’s Word tells us: "They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, 15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him”(Psalms 92:14-15).”
As retirement looms, the "golden years" can feel lackluster, but they needn't be. Our usefulness isn't bound by age; it's our resolve that matters. Despite aging knees, determination keeps us youthful. God's work in us is ongoing, regardless of age. Embrace growing old as an opportunity for God to use us more profoundly than ever before.
We pray. “Heavenly Father, in our golden years, let us not be bound by age. May our resolve remain strong, keeping us youthful despite the aging process. Use us profoundly, for Your work knows no bounds and these bodies are yours. In Jesus name. Amen!”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
