One life for many? What is the true nature of sacrifice? Is it giving your all even when you have nothing left? I remember a story about Swiss soldiers centuries ago, outnumbered ten to one as they defended a narrow mountain pass. When all hope seemed lost, their leader dropped his sword and bravely walked toward the enemy, knowing he would be pierced by spears. His sacrifice created a breach, allowing the surviving soldiers to escape and ultimately defeat their foes. One life for many.
Think about it. Was this act was more than bravery; or a calculated move for victory? A calculation that turned defeat into victory?
God’s Word: “He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities (Colossians 2:14).”
The greatest day of our lives will be when the Lord Jesus returns for us. We’ll see the scars from the battle He fought to save us from sin. As He hung on the cross, facing relentless assault from Satan, He willingly became a target. His sacrifice created a breach in Satan’s lines, sealing the enemy’s fate. Jesus was crushed so we could have victory. One life for many.
We pray. “Heavenly Father, as we eagerly await Your glorious return, we thank You for the scars that remind us of Your sacrifice and victory over sin, death and the devil. Help us to live boldly in our faith, knowing that Your love has sealed the enemy’s fate. In Jesus name. Amen.”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
