Nothing left to give?

Nothing left to give? Is it ever fair to say you’re used up and have nothing left to give? I’ve felt this way many times, but is it right? If you do feel burnt out, you need to ask how you got there and how to prevent it from happening in the future. Understanding that experience is crucial to finding ways to recharge and avoid that sense of emptiness again.

Think about it. Feeling burned out? Are you experiencing true burnout, or is it simply a lack of fuel that’s left you with a “charred” wick? Understanding the distinction is crucial.

God’s Word: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16).”

Imagine a wick submerged in oil. If the oil runs out, the wick will burn up; but as long as there’s oil, it endures and provides light. Similarly, when we depend on the Holy Spirit, we don’t truly burn out. The key question to ask ourselves is: what’s burning? Are we out of fuel? We must ensure our hearts are filled daily with the “fuel” of God’s Word. Consuming Scripture replenishes our spiritual tanks, empowering us to navigate life without burning out. Often, burnout stems from neglecting our spiritual flame and failing to refuel. Life’s fuel station is the Bible.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, help us to depend on Your Holy Spirit each day. Fill our hearts with Your Word and renew our strength. May we shine brightly in the world, avoiding burnout and staying fueled by Your presence and love. Guide us to nurture our spiritual flame always. In Jesus' name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matt 6:34)
