No matter the costa?

No matter the cost? In my youth, I remember professional football players who played both ways, offense and defense, a practice that had faded by the 1960s. Players like Chuck Bednarik, a Hall of Famer with the Philadelphia Eagles, exemplified this. Bednarik played center on offense and linebacker on defense, enduring the full 60 minutes of playing each game. Known for his hard-hitting style, Bednarik was a dedicated player who gave his all for his team fort fourteen grueling years.

Think about it. As Bednarik exampled sacrifice on the football field, is there a similar role that God sometimes asks. of you and I?

God’s Word: “Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.’ Matthew 16:24).”

Sacrifice took its toll on Bednarik, who endured countless hits and ended up banged up for life. Yet, when asked if it was worth it, he’d grin and say, “You bet! The Eagles gave me the greatest career, and I gave them everything I could.” Similarly, God expects us to be willing to give our all, just as he did. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we should be ready to sacrifice, no matter the cost.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, grant us the strength to sacrifice with unwavering dedication, as Chuck Bednarik did in his career. Help us to give our all in our discipleship, embracing Your call with courage and commitment. May we serve You fully, regardless of the cost. In Jesus name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.                               Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
