New Year clutter?

New Year clutter? At this time of the year, it’s remarkable what we end up throwing out, giving away and relocating. It’s called taking stock in the new year.

Think about it. Taking stock of things can take on many guises. There are materials things, like those I typically remove from my office in the new year, and there are the less tangible things that clutter our minds and hearts.

God’s Word tells us: “‘Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me.’” (John 14:1).

When it comes to believing, Jesus has skinned it down a bit for us. “Trust in God. Trust in me also.” That was it. Are there some beliefs in your heart that are just taking up space? Perhaps it’s time to take inventory. What do you need, and what can you do without. There’s no point in filling up your heart with beliefs that are nice but not necessary. Perhaps what your buying is nothing more than clutter?

We pray. “Heavenly Father, thank You for this wonderful word of comfort. Enable me to hold fast to the truth of Your Word. I pray that You would endow me the wisdom, the words, and the grace, to pour forth Your comfort to others who are facing their own difficult trials.” In Jesus name, Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
