Molehills?

(05.12.21 – Despising God -Deuteronomy 3:1-3)

My friend, may I ask you a question? How often in life haven't we experienced problems when bills needed to be paid, and the worries and the heartaches just kept mounting every day?

Isn't it strange how one man's problem can become another man's opportunity? It seems that sometimes some of our worst challenges, discarded or passed on, often are picked up again by someone else and everything changes. The car that sits in my garage today, for example, was another man's huge challenge. He had it stored in his barn for a number of years and didn't drive it much. Over time the car collected a deep blanket of dust and dirt. The tires dried out and interior had taken on a bit of a musty odor. Despite the fact that the car had only 21,000 miles on it, because it was nearly 40 years old, it had major underbody and frame problems from sitting idle for so many years. The owner looked at it as one big repair problem. The car had become a challenge, a real problem for him. He sold it to me and all I could see was opportunity. I needed a reliable vehicle at a fair price. I had some money to invest in repairs. If I invested so much in the structural repairs I would have a car that, although nearly 40-years-old, had relatively few miles on it; and, at a very good price–his problem, my opportunity.

How often in life haven't we experienced problems when bills needed to be paid, and the worries and the heartaches just kept mounting every day. And then we experience relief and wonder: "Lord, I don't know how you did it." We can't explain the where's or why's. All we know, we've seen our mountains turn to blessings in disguise. There's an old song that goes: "No, I've never moved a mountain, for my faith is far too small. Yet, I thank you, Lord of Heaven, you have always heard my call. And as long as there are mountains in my life, I'll have no fear, for the mountain-moving Jesus is my strength and always near. (Source Unknown.)

Every problem in this life is an opportunity to prove God's power. Every day we encounter countless golden opportunities, brilliantly disguised as insurmountable problems. The trick is always being on alert for opportunities disguised as problems. When the problems of this life loom large, that's when God is at His best. He moves before us and knocks them down to size. The Bible often depicts God as our "deliverer," the One who takes problems and turns them into possibilities. We just need to believe He will do it, and it is done. He is sovereign and when there seems to be no way, God will find it for us. Is there a problem in your life that seems insurmountable? Turn it over to God and let Him "deliverer" it back to you cleaned-up and repackaged as a new challenge, a sparkling opportunity. Like that old car, sometimes all it takes is a willingness to look beyond the work. Who knows, your problem may be nothing more than a gem in the rough.

We pray. Heavenly Father, Every problem in this life is an opportunity to prove Your power. Every day we encounter countless golden opportunities, disguised as insurmountable problems. Help us to realize that we should always be on alert for opportunities disguised as problems. When the problems of this life loom large, that's when You are at Your best. You move before us and knock them down to size. Your are our "deliverer," the One who takes problems and turns them into possibilities. We just need to believe You will do it, and it is done. You are sovereign and when there seems to be no way, You will find it for us. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!

Therefore my friend, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry for itself; each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matt 6:34) This Passing Day. May this passing day honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and be a blessing to you and everyone you meet. Find a stranger and say hello. Don't let another day pass without your day blessing someone else.
