Love to touch?

We love to touch? There’s no substitute for touch. As often as I am able to speak with my brothers and sisters on the phone, their voices are no substitute for themselves. Although their voices remind me, their touches make the memory of them real and tangible. There is no substitute for touching someone you love as opposed to just being in touch.

Think about it. So it is with Jesus. If He had been but a spirit, no flesh or bones, no ability to touch us with warm flesh, how or why would we follow Him? Would we be able to worship Him as faithfully as we do knowing that He has no body, or presence as we do?

God’s Word tells us: “Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself” (Luke 21:14-15).

We pray: “Heavenly Father, thank You that Christ died for my sins and rose again. Thank You that He identified with my sinfulness so that I could identify with His holiness. I pray that all the sorrows and ills I am called upon to face, will draw me closer to Him. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.”

His realness would be missing without His flesh. I am glad that someday I will be able to touch Him. I long for that day when as my brother, Christ Jesus, will hug me and secure me in His grasp. Then I know I will really be home, back where I belong among those I love to touch.

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
