Losing heart?

Never losing heart? We spend so much time these days keeping our bodies fit; yet we often spend no time making sure that our hearts are kept in good spiritual shape. We rely so much on everything going right to keep us in a cheerful mood that it is a tall order to expect anyone to be happy, not to lose heart, when almost everything is going wrong.

Think about it. Keeping a winning attitude even when you are losing is a tall order, to be sure. Nonetheless, that’s exactly what God expects of each one of us.

God’s Word tells us: “That is why we are not discouraged. Though outwardly we are wearing out, inwardly we are renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16-17).

The key to not “losing heart” is making sure we believe that even in defeat we are renewed in Christ. Defeats come and go in this life. Yet, for the Christian, defeat is one of those things that we strive to manage in the sweet expectation that even in defeat we are victorious in Christ.

“Heavenly Father, sometimes we win and sometimes we lose in this life. Help us Lord to accept either because we know that You provide us wisdom either way. Bring contentment into our lives and help us to learn from both the ups and the downs as You give them. In Jesus name. Amen!”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
