Leave room for God? Nobody knows our faults better than we do, yet we often overlook this when criticized, focusing more on small details of the critic’s words. Recently, I was criticized for a tiny typo in my daily devotionals. At first, it stung, but then I remembered how far my writing has come over the years, which gave me comfort. Have you ever found comfort in reflecting on your growth after criticism?
Think about it. I knew the flaws in my writing, yet I thanked the critic and praised the Lord for the ability to write?
God’s Word: “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).”
Dwelling on criticism, whether deserved or not, robs us of the comfort God's love offers. He forgives our sins, covers mistakes, and works with our imperfections. When anger or bitterness fills us, we leave no room for God’s comfort, found in loving relationships and, most importantly, in Him. When faced with criticism, leave room for God and others, transforming self-pity into hope.
We pray. “Heavenly Father, when faced with criticism, help me release anger and bitterness. Fill me with Your peace and comfort, reminding me of Your unwavering love. Teach me to find hope in Your presence, in the support of others, and in the grace You offer daily. In Jesus name. Amen.”
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matt 6:34)
