In God's lap?

On God’s lap? One of the most rewarding aspects of being a father is teaching a child a skill while they believe it was their own accomplishment. Like when you let them "drive" the truck, their astonished face lights up, thinking they are steering, unaware you're in control. With pudgy hands gripping the wheel and feet far from the pedals, they experience the joy and pride of a new achievement, all while safely under your guidance.

Think about it. God works in this way with us as well. He wants us to experience life and, as a gift, unwrap it and use it, so He puts us firmly at the wheel and tells us to “drive;” all the while keeping His foot on the accelerator and His finger on the wheel.

God’s Word: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).”

As Christians, we should regularly acknowledge God’s presence and grace, while submitting to His will. Despite our illusion of control, recognizing our works as acts of worship puts life into perspective. Just as a child enjoys “driving” on Daddy’s lap, we should embrace life, trusting that God is truly in control. Enjoy the ride; the reality of heaven exists beyond our best perception.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, help us recognize Your presence and grace in our lives. Teach us to trust and submit to Your will, even when we feel we are in control. May our actions be acts of worship, and let us enjoy life, always aware that You are guiding us. In Jesus name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
