Impact player? Those small and tedious tasks, the ones that just need to be done while offering little reward for their completion, tend to be boring, innocuous and just plain, downright a drudgery. Nevertheless, God looks at these from a different perspective.
Think about it. Your best performance. Is there some drudgery in every task that ultimately provides the best, in training us to be good performers? It was the lesson Jesus exampled while living here on earth.
God’s Word tells us: “ (Jesus) He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.” (John 13:3-5).
Jesus often focused on the tedious, the small, even drudgery to make his point. He washed his disciples feet and dried them. This was not becoming the Savior of the world. Yet, he did it gladly. It has been said that drudgery is the “touchstone of character.” Are you looking for big things to do as a Christian; things that will make a greater impact? Try setting your sights on the things that are drudgery. This make you an impact player, the only kind that God is looking to recruit.
We pray: “Father, please give me the courage and confidence to serve others sacrificially as Jesus did when He washed His disciples’ feet. I know You have made me Your child, so please use me as Your child to be a blessing to others, even when the tasks may be tedious and seemingly unrewarding. In Jesus name. Amen!”
