Green altar?

"Green” altar? “Green” has become the byword of our generation. As I poured my cereal this morning, I noticed the cereal box’s emphasis on its eco-friendly aspects. The box boasted non-genetically altered oats, no high fructose corn syrup, and no pesticides. It also highlighted that it was made from recycled materials, with the word "green" appearing seven times. The cereal tasted good, but the focus seemed more on being green than on flavor.

Think about it. Sadly it seems that the “green” culture we live in today has become more than a preoccupation for some; for many it has become another god. Have we gotten to where we are worshiping at a big “green altar”?

God’s Word: "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (Genesis 2:15).”

Society offers many things to worship, including the “green” culture. Over-focusing on such ideals can lead us to build a society based on what we idolize. When something becomes more important than God, it becomes our god. While green is good, God is better. Balance and perspective are essential. “Green” is good. God is great.

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, we thank You for the blessings of health in our daily lives. Help us to cherish and care for Your creation, embracing mindful choices that honor both our well-being and the environment. Guide us to balance our needs with respect for Your wondrous gift of nature. In Jesus name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
