God in a box?

God in a box? The next time that you play a board game take note of how you feel when you’re sliding that cover off of the box. I would call it a mixture of anticipation iced with control. We look forward to what’s inside and are confident we can play the game, have a good time and then repack it for future use. That’s efficient, convenient and self-satisfying, all in one.

Think about it. Should we be putting God in a box for those same reasons? Having God at our disposal whenever we need him would be efficient. We could open Him up whenever it’s convenient. And we can put Him back in saving Him for future use.

God’s Word tells us: “Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done” (Romans 1:20).

Don’t put God in a box. When we relegate God to a one hour, Sunday visit in a church pew, we put him safely in a box of our choosing. Like an old game we used to play but now just doesn’t fit our lives, there will come a time when even the box is no longer opened.

“I pray today in Jesus name that we make God a daily part of our life, the important ingredient in being happy and finding satisfaction and purpose in our lives. Lord, help us to make every day a Sunday in our lives. Amen!”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
