God for real?

12.10.20— Just Believe!--John 11:25

My friend, may I ask you a question? If the certainty that God is the basis for all that exists is so firm, what should that do for our willingness to confess that belief to others?

My friend, life’s a story, welcome to This Passing Day.

I’m M. Clifford Brunner

I recently read an article in a magazine about DNA. DNA is made up of enzymes that form the molecules that make the structure of DNA, the genetic building block of all life. The article was by a noted mathematician and statistician from Cardiff University in Wales, Great Britain. The theme of the article was on probability: the likelihood enzymes that form to make the structure of the molecules of DNA could have done so by chance. How probable was it? The Cardiff professor came up with this equation: A = 2 to the 40,000 power. Now if you want to get a calculator and do the math don’t bother. He went on to say that the sum would be equal to more molecules than exist in the entire universe–an incalculable number, to say the least. Without saying it, he was illustrating how difficult it is to believe in the law of chance over the probability of design. If there had ever been a doubt in my mind that God designed DNA, even the slightest doubt had no room to exist. If the certainty that God is the basis for all that exists is so firm, what should that do for our willingness to confess that belief to others?

Here's a story: The story is told about the famed tightrope walker Carlos Zumbrati who walked a tightrope across Niagara Falls. Conditions were less than ideal that day. It windy and cold and he was thankful to have made it safely across. One of those waiting to congratulate him was a man with a wheelbarrow. "I believe that you could walk across pushing this wheelbarrow," the man told him. Zumbrati shook his head and said he felt fortunate to have accomplished the feat without a wheelbarrow. The man urged him to try. "I believe that you can do it," he said as he pushed the wheel- barrow in Zumbrati's direction. The aerialist graciously declined, turned around and began to walk away; but the wheel- barrow toter followed him still remarking that he thought he could do it. Finally, Zumbrati said, "You really do believe in me don't you?" "Oh I do," the man assured him. "Okay," Zumbrati replied, "Get into the wheelbarrow." (Speakers Sourcebook)

If you really believe, cast off the concerns, doubts, fears, and self-imposed limitations, because once you believe something is true, you will then act as if it is. The evidence that God really does exist is plain. The ever mounting evidence that He not only exists but that all things exist because He designed them to be what they are from before the beginning of time is impressive. With so much evidence to back up your belief in God, what is preventing you from telling others about His greatness? It certainly can't be that you have any doubt that He is who He says He is. Get into the wheelbarrow and let God take you over the falls of uncertainty and doubt. Enjoy the ride and, looking down is permitted.

We pray. Heavenly Father. The evidence that You really exist is plain. The ever mounting evidence that You not only exists but that all things exist because You designed them to be what they are from before the beginning of time is impressive. Forgive us Lord when we doubt this even if but for a moment. With so much evidence to back up our belief in You, what O Lord is preventing us from telling others about Your greatness? It certainly can't be that you have any doubt that You are who You say You are. Lord, we need to get into the wheelbarrow of faith and let You take us over the falls of uncertainty and doubt. With You pushing, we should enjoy the ride, even looking down. We pray this in Jesus name. Amen!

Therefore my friend, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry for itself; each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matt 6:34) This Passing Day. May this passing day honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and be a blessing to you and everyone you meet. Find a stranger and say hello. Don't let another day pass without your day blessing someone else.
