Fixing the inner pain?

Fixing the inner pain? Depression is a feeling we all face when exhaustion leaves us drained, a sense that life has lost buoyancy. What was called "feeling blue" is now recognized as depression. Though the term has existed for over a century, it’s grown prominent in recent decades. Where once we sought support from each other, today we often turn to antidepressants and clinical treatments, making depression a multibillion-dollar industry focused on external fixes.

Think about it. The multibillion-dollar wellness industry thrives on a society obsessed with external solutions. Are we really that much sicker today, or is it just a shift in how we cope?

God’s Word: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1).”

Depression isn’t new—it’s been with us since the fall of Adam and Eve. Even in success, we can feel cast down. Recognizing God’s work in our lives helps us offer praise. Turning to "externals" won’t fix inner pain. Feeling right about ourselves requires prayer, not a pill. God is always there, holding us up, whether things are going right or wrong.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, in times of struggle or success, help me recognize Your presence and work in my life. When I feel cast down, remind me to turn to You in prayer, not to ‘externals.’ Thank You for holding me up, no matter what I face. In Jesus name. Amen.”

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matt 6:34)
