Fairness for the sake of ...

Fairness for the sake of? Fairness dominates our society, rooted in biblical justice. Yet, have we distorted it? A mall barred unaccompanied minors to curb crime, but soon faced a lawsuit for being "unfair" to youths. Now, it must defend a protective rule in court. Fairness is crucial, but has it gone too far?

Think about it. Are Christians to be “fair” under every circumstance no matter what? Is there a time when we need to weigh what is good over what is fair?

God’s Word: “The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.… (Ecclesiastes 9:11)”

In an imperfect world, fairness isn't guaranteed. As Christians, we should strive for fairness and "fair play," as Lewis said. However, demanding equal treatment for all is unreasonable. There will always be differences in skills and abilities, and no matter what we do, we can't change that. Fairness for the sake of good is biblical, but fairness for the sake of enforced equality is tyranny. We should focus on promoting true justice, not mandating identical outcomes.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, help us to not conform to this world but to be transformed by renewing our minds in Your Word. Grant us the courage to make changes, seeking deeper joy and fulfillment through devotion to You. Guide us in Your perfect will. In Jesus name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
