The face of adversity? The secret to happiness eludes many, with paths like wealth and power often promoted. A recent news story illustrates this struggle: a man became trapped in a furnace while cleaning, eventually severing his crushed arm to escape. Though he lost his arm, he gained a renewed lease on life, showing that true happiness often comes through sacrifice and resilience in the face of adversity..
Think about it. Sometimes severing ourselves, however painfully, from things that seemed important but are now somehow holding us back is one key to finding happiness in life.
God’s Word: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! … (2 Corinthians 5:17).”
Many lives can be divided into Act One and Act Two, marked by a decision to follow a new direction or passion. For some, the pursuit of financial success no longer fulfilling. Act Two often involves a conversion or defining moment, laying the “old self” to rest. Embracing this new self, governed by principle and passion, may require severing ties with what once seemed essential, ultimately leading to true freedom and happiness.
We pray. “Heavenly Father, guide us as we transition into our Act Two, shedding the old self and embracing new passions. Help us to sever ties with what hinders our growth, and grant us the courage to pursue a life grounded in principle, spirit, and true happiness. In Jesus name. Amen.”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
