Empty feelings?

Empty feelings? Have you ever gone through a day and struggled to remember much? Like a zombie, you plod through work, feeling burned out and numb. Burnout signals that we’re merely going through the motions, lost in life’s pressures. It’s like driving without recalling how we arrived at our destination.

Think about it. That’s the sort of thing that happens to us when we stop focusing on what we’re doing because what we’re doing is stressful. In a way, it’s nature’s way of minimizing stress. Nonetheless, is that the way to go through life?

God’s Word: “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established (Proverbs 16:3).”

At the end of the day, do you feel life has passed you by? This empty feeling lingers, even into the night. Despite hard work and accomplishments, fulfillment seems lacking. God reminds us in His Word to “give careful thought to our ways” (Haggai 1:5). If our days go back and forth between work and home, we may need to break this routine and take side trips, possibly touching others’ lives with kindness.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, as days pass and life feels empty, help us find true fulfillment in our work. Guide us to break free from routine and seek opportunities to touch others’ lives with kindness. May we reflect on our ways and align our paths with Your purpose. In Jesus' name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matt 6:34)
