Easter surprise?

Easter surprise? Satan perhaps had planned Christ’s death for ages, the chance to get his revenge on the One who had expelled him from paradise. What fun he must have had as he watched the life of our Savior play right into his hands. That unsuspecting band of disciples and the women that followed Him. And us? Without hope of ever pleasing God and with the blood of Jesus dripping from our hands where else could we turn but to Satan himself?

Think about it. Satan laid out the plan. He watched it unfold and even got more than he bargained for. Stoning or being thrown off a cliff would have done just nicely. But, crucifixion! Now that was a real boon. He seemed to have the upper hand?

God’s Word tells us: “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” (Matthew 28:6).

Wanting to prove his power over Christ and his mastery over mankind, Satan ended up walking into his own trap. The greatest practical joke of all time. On Easter Sunday the one with egg on his face wasn’t Jesus Christ, the disciples, the women or even us! It was him. Surprise!

“Heavenly Father, Christ is arisen from death’s dark prison. All praise to Your Holy Name O Lord! You have given us the victory over Satan and pinned a big “kick-me” sign on the back of the devil Thanks be to You for the greatest joke ever played. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
